higuainNapoli beat Frosinone 4-0 at the Stadio San Paolo on Saturday evening to finish second in Serie A.

Marek Hamsik opened the scoring before the break after the Canarini had a man sent off before Gonzalo Higuain netted a hat-trick in the second half to break the Serie A goalscoring record.

The hosts had a chance in the fourth minute after Frosinone failed to clear and Gonzalo Higuain was played in but he thrashed his first-time shot wide.

Mirko Gori was sent off after 13 minutes for no obvious reason after appearing to say something untoward after giving away a foul.

The Partenopei naturally began to exert pressure with the man advantage and Lorenzo Insigne had a volley saved in the 17th minute before going closer two minutes later with a shot from outside the area which hit the bar.

Insigne found Jose Callejon with a ball over the top but Massimo Zappino saved his volley before doing the same from Vlad Chiriches at the corner which followed.

Higuain found the net in the 36th minute but the goal was correctly disallowed for offside.

Marek Hamsik opened the scoring in 44th minute after a Faouzi Ghoulam cross fell at his feet in the six-yard box and he made no mistake.

Higuain doubled the lead in the 51st minute after turning home Allan’s cutback following a mazy run from the Brazilian.

The Argentine made it 3-0 in the 62nd minute after redirecting a Elseid Hyhsaj home with another first-time redirect.

Oliver Kragl almost scored a consolation with a stunning free kick from distance which hit the post.

Higuain then sealed his hat-trick in the 72nd minute in spectacular fashion by chesting the ball with his back to goal before netting with a bicycle kick to break the Serie A goalscoring record.

Napoli had further chances without extending their lead and the result sees them finish second while relegated Frosinone end the season in 19th.
