sarri napoliNapoli coach Maurizio Sarri believes that his side played some of their best football on Monday, and has some kind words for newly-crowned Premier League Champion Claudio Ranieri.

As the final whistle blew in the Partenopei’s 2-1 victory over Atalanta, Leicester City were being crowned English champions as Tottenham dropped points away at Chelsea, and Sarri was highly complimentary of his compatriot’s work.

“It is well known that Italian coaches are some of the best in the world,” Sarri told Premium Sport.

“I am happy for Ranieri, this title is the culmination of an extraordinary career.”

Sarri then turned his attention to his own team’s performance.

“We started the match well and in the first half we played some of our best football this season,” the 57-year-old noted.

“The second half was a much tighter affair.

“Many of our players are experiencing a season like this for the first time, so naturally there are some nerves among the group.”

Sarri concluded by touching on his current contract situation, which has been the subject of conversation throughout the season.

“I met with president Aurelio De Laurentiis last month and we decided that we will discuss a contract renewal at the end of the season,” he said.
