vecinoSerie A runners-up Napoli are interested in putting forward a bid for Fiorentina midfielder Matias Vecino.

The Partenopei are said to be seeking a replacement for Mirko Valdifiori who disappointed at the Stadio Artemio Franchi last season, and the Italian’s former Empoli teammate could fit the bill.

According to Il Mattino, Viola upper management are requesting a fee in the region of €20 million for the 24-year-old, an asking price that president Aurelio De Laurentiis reportedly considers too high and will attempt to decrease.

If a deal for the Uruguayan cannot be reached then the club will shift their focus to more viable alternatives which may include the likes of Ajax starlet Davy Klaassen and Porto midfielder Hector Herrera.

Vecino accumulated 38 across all competitions for Fiorentina this past season, scoring two goals.
