Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has credited the Giallorossi’s 3-2 victory over Genoa to Francesco Totti’s inspiring contributions.
The Eternal Captain was in the spotlight once again for a trademark free kick that leveled the score, as the 39-year-old managed to lift the spirits of his side once more.
“Totti is a diamond, he has always lent a big hand and these kinds of free kicks are only part of his repertoire,” Spalletti told Sky Sport Italia.
The Giallorossi found themselves 2-1 down after 65 minutes but managed to fight back, and Spalletti was pleased with the character displayed by his side.
“It was a great match between two teams exchanging blows, it was tough but we showed personality,” he continued.
“Stephan El Shaarawy scored an important goal, well-worked to him by Edin Dzeko and it was an important victory.
“We gave everything and the team put in a great performance, but Totti’s contribution was exceptional.”
