montella sampdoriaSampdoria coach Vincenzo Montella does not expect to move over the summer but admitted he would consider the Italy job were it to be offered.

Claudio Ranieri is another name who has been tipped to replace Antonio Conte and the Blucerchiati boss also feels that he would be a good option.

“I can see Ranieri as a good option, he’s a balanced man who has spent a lot of time in football and it was not just this year when he showed his value,” said Montella to the Corriere dello Sport.

“If I got the call I would consider it and have a few sleepless nights to ponder it over. I still see myself at Sampdoria next season but surprises can arrive at any moment.”

The former Fiorentina coach also looked back over his time as a player with Roma.

“In those days we were the strongest team but we didn’t win much,” added Montella.

“The pressure that you feel at Roma might have played a part and the access of the fans expressing their affection could have affected some players’ mentalities.”
