AS Roma v Torino FC - Serie ARoma coach Luciano Spalletti has targeted a second place finish ahead of the Giallorossi’s crucial fixture against Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Serie A on Monday.

The 57-year-old urged his side to take confidence from their 1-0 victory over Napoli last Monday afternoon, a result which closed the gap on the Partenopei to just two points with three matches remaining.

“We are still clinging on to the possibility of second place,” Spalletti told the assembled press during his pre-match press conference.

“That’s why we must go to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris and be confident against Genoa.

“Roma have scored lots of goals this year and played well. There is still room for improvement but we’re in good form. What my players have done is exceptional and the media haven’t stressed that enough.

“Everyone knows what a great job Gian Piero Gasperini has done at Genoa, especially in terms of developing and uncovering great players.”

Spalletti confirmed Kevin Strootman will start the game after a long injury lay-off, but revealed he will be without the services of Alessandro Florenzi against the Rossoblu.

“Florenzi is 90 percent fit but he won’t feature on Monday as he hasn’t gotten over his hip injury,” he added.

“Strootman on the other hand will be in the line-up. He’s ready.”
