delneriHellas Verona coach Luigi Delneri was proud of his team’s performance on Sunday night, despite losing 3-2 to Palermo in the final round of Serie A in 2015-16.

Prior to the match Carpi were concern about a possible lack of effort on the part of the already-relegated Gialloblu but the Mastini were unlucky since they had hit the woodwork on two occasions and Andrea Rispoli was offside when he crossed the ball for Alberto Gilardino.

“This game was perfectly reflective of the season that just concluded,” Delneri said in the post-match press conference.

“The team was committed, they hit the post twice and went out with honour.

“The accusations bothered us but this evening Verona showed dignity and did everything possible, without considering that Palermo got the third goal with a play that should have been called back for offside.

“The facts speak for themselves in the end, we have demonstrated professionalism up to the last minute.”
