marcelo bielsaLazio and Marcelo Bielsa have agreed terms for the Argentine to take the reins at the Stadio Olimpico.

Bielsa will join the Biancocelesti on a one-year contract, which can be extended should the two parties have an interest in doing so at the end of the season.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Bielsa is set to earn €2.5 million over the course of the contract. During president Claudio Lotito’s tenure in charge of Lazio, no coach has been paid as much.

Bielsa is thought to have closely watched several Lazio matches from last season in order to work out what players will fit into his high-pressing, aggressive system, and has identified Antonio Candreva and Lucas Biglia as vital first team members.

While the Aquile are hopeful of keeping hold of Biglia, Candreva could yet depart, with Chelsea rumoured to be interested in his services.
