Following Italy’s 2-0 defeat of Finland on Monday evening, Azzurri coach Antonio Conte heaped praise on the ability and character of his players.
Antonio Candreva and Daniele De Rossi found the net on the night, while Conte will now turn his attentions to the EURO 2016 opener against Belgium on June 13.
“This group is made of of good guys,” Conte told Rai Sport after the match. “We have a squad formed with great men and great players.
“It is important because in these short tournaments you must be comfortable with your teammates.”
The soon-to-be Chelsea boss went on to stress the importance of staying focused after the friendlies and to adjust focus onto the upcoming meeting with Belgium.
“We must work while remaining down to earth,” he added. “We won two friendlies, now we have to work on how to tactically line up against Belgium.”
Next up for Conte’s Azzurri is their EURO 2016 Group E opener against Belgium in Lyon, before they travel to meet Sweden on June 17 in Toulouse and the Republic of Ireland in Lille on June 23.
