After the game, Leonardo Bonucci identified togetherness and the mentality of the current Azzurri squad as being key to their success so far this summer, a sentiment agreed with by Florenzi.

“What a group! Another victory earned with humility, sacrifice and sweat,” the versatile Roman announced on his Twitter account.

Florenzi, who featured on 33 occasions for the Giallorossi in Serie A last season, has been selected to start in both of Italy’s last two games, against the Republic of Ireland and Spain respectively.

Next up for the 25-year-old and Antonio Conte’s Azzurri is a meeting with World Cup holders and tournament-favourites Germany on Sunday.
