The father of Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina has said that the Spaniard is expected to stay with the Partenopei despite rumours linking him with Barcelona and Liverpool.
Miguel Reina has not been contacted by other clubs about Pepe’s services for next season and he hopes that his son can stay in Naples as well as become a club director when his career finishes.
“We don’t have any knowledge of any interest from Barcelona or other squads,” Reina Snr told Radio CRC. “We are not behind the market rumours.
“Pepe is feeling very well physically and he is happy from a psychological point of view. I hope that my son stays at Napoli for a long time and I wish that he can become a director.”
Reina has also been linked with a return to former club Liverpool but his father reiterated that no contact has been made between the player and the club.
“There is nothing, there are only rumours,” he added. “He is contracted to Napoli and because of that he will remain in Naples.”
