Roma have reportedly signed Empoli left-back Mario Rui, as the Portuguese player will move away from the Tuscan club.

Rui’s time in Serie A has been fantastic as the 25-year-old enjoyed a solid season at Empoli, proving to be a mainstay at the back and playing in all but two league matches this past season.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Azzurri have already settled their negotiations, with both parties willing to make the move happen.

Roma have agreed to pay the initial €3 million with an additional €6m to be paid at a later date.

The deal comes after rumours Paris Saint-Germain were getting ready to offer the €15m to take the defender to the Ligue 1 Champions.

Both parties will meet again this week with Roma hoping that they can make the deal official soon.

The Portuguese player will sign a five-year contract worth €900,00 Euros per year.
