MontellaAC Milan are on the brink of announcing Sampdoria boss Vincenzo Montella as their new coach ahead of the 2016-17 season.

Sinisa Mihajlovic was sacked in April following a poor campaign with the Rossoneri before moving on to Torino, while Cristian Brocchi took up his post at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, however his short contract ends on June 30.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Montella is the next name on the minds of Adriano Galliani and Silvio Berlusconi as a meeting between them and Montella’s representative Alessandro Lucci ended positively.

The 42-year-old is expected to be unveiled as new Milan coach as soon as possible, and will move from current club Sampdoria after finishing 15th last season.

Montella replaced Walter Zenga at the Blucerchiati in November 2015, however he claimed just one point from his first four games and achieved just six wins throughout the season.
