AllegriJuventus coach Massimiliano Allegri was pleased with how his new players Miralem Pjanic and Mehdi Benatia performed as the Serie A champions beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in a friendly at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

He felt that Juve played well against Spurs but fitness was the most important issue for his side.

“It was a good test, I saw an excellent Juve for 60 minutes but we then struggled a bit in the final 30 minutes,” said Allegri to reporters.

“But the important thing now is to improve our physical condition. Today, we played with four at the back and three in front of them. We did well to control the game and be aggressive.”

The Bianconeri coach also touched on the first unofficial appearances from Benatia and Pjanic in Juventus shirts.

“Benatia and Pjanic did well, especially as it was the first appearance for both of them,” added Allegri.

“We can improve further and we are ready to compete to have a great season.”
