Inter captain Mauro Icardi, with English Premier League side Arsenal preparing a bid.

The Argentine had previously been expected to move to Napoli, should he leave the Nerazzurri, following the departure of Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus, with the Partenopei repeatedly having to increase their offer.

According to the Daily Star Sunday, however, a transfer to England is a possibility, with Arsenal looking to submit an offer worth €60 million for the 23-year-old.

The Gunners failed in their attempts to sign Olympique Lyonnais forward Alexandre Lacazette and have thus turned their attention to the Serie A man.

Icardi was close to leaving earlier on this summer after comments made by his wife caused tension within the Inter faithful, however both sporting director Piero Ausilio and president Erick Thohir have expressed their support to keep him at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
