Fabio CapelloFormer Juventus coach Fabio Capello believes the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain in Turin from Napoli could make up for the sale of Paul Pogba.

The Argentine international underwent a secret medical with La Vecchia Signora recently, making it almost certain a transfer will be completed, and Capello believes it is a right move for the reigning Serie A champions as they look to recover from the expected departure of Pogba to Manchester United.

“If [Juventus] have decided to sign Higuain, then they must feel that they needed him,” Capello told La Stampa.

“And because Juve are very conscious of the player’s value and those they can swap, they know that in the middle of the park they could make up for Pogba, not as a force, but in terms of quality.

“The truth is that Juve acted fast [to sign top players] and continue to increase their lead over the competition [in Italy].”

The Italian was then asked if he feels that Higuain is similar to former Roma and Fiorentina forward and Argentine legend Gabriel Batistuta.

“No, absolutely not as those were different times. Roma are missing a target man to win the championship, we [Juventus] are talking about winning the Champions League,” said the 70-year-old.
