Conte was announced as new Blues boss before Euro 2016 began and started work on July 11, just nine days after his Azzurri side’s exit of the tournament to Germany, and the Italian has given his squad an insight into what will be expected of them.

“Be prepared to slog, this will be the hardest summer of your life,” the 46-year-old told his players, according to The Times.

Chelsea will travel to the United States for three friendly clashes with Real Madrid, AC Milan and fellow English Premier League side Liverpool, before coming back to England to prepare for their opening mach of the new season at home to West Ham United on August 15.

Last year’s Premier League season ended in disappointment for Chelsea as a poor year saw them finish in 10th place, but with the determination showed by Conte it would be a surprise to see them mid-table again next year.
