mario gomez fiorentinaFiorentina striker Mario Gomez has rejected a possible move to German Bundesliga club Wolfsburg, as he wants to become a free agent.

The German international has had an up and down career, winning a few Bundesliga titles while in Germany with Stuttgart and Bayern Munich before joining La Viola in 2013, where he has since picked up injuries that saw him miss out on his country’s victory in the 2014 World Cup.

According to La Gazetta dello Sport, the 31-year-old was offered a new challenge with Wolfsburg, however he rejected Die Wolfe in favour of wanting to become a free agent.

Gomez was at Turkish club Besiktas on loan last season, however he announced he would not make a permanent transfer as a result of the tensions in the country.

Since moving to Italy, Gomez has netted 14 goals in 47 appearances.
