higuainGonzalo Higuain’s proposed move away from Napoli to join Juventus is now off, with Giuseppe Marotta confirming Aurelio De Laurentiis’ earlier words.

The Partenopei president revealed earlier that the Bianconeri would not meet the €94.7 million buy-out clause in El Pipita’s contract, which meant last season’s capocannoniere would not be joining the reigning Scudetto holders.

“It is absolutely true that we won’t pay the clause,” Marotta confirmed. “There are no negotiations for Higuain. Napoli will not negotiate and, for the time being at least, the matter is closed.

The Old Lady were linked with a move for the Argentine as they seek to replace the recently departed Alvaro Morata, and Marotta insists their search for a new striker will continue.

“We will continue to look to replace Morata, but I will not add anything else,” he concluded.
