Despite his request to leave the side this summer, Lazio are attempting to convince Keita Balde Diao to stay on with a contract renewal.

Keita didn’t turn up to a pre-season training session and there has been speculation since the conclusion of last season that he will leave the Biancocelesti, but the club are hoping a new contract can convince the 21-year-old to remain.

According to Premium Sport, Keita has returned to pre-season training and will meet with Lazio officials soon to discuss new contract terms, with the club aiming to set his release clause at €18 million.

The Spaniard has spent the entirety of his professional career with Lazio, after being promoted from their youth ranks in 2013, and has since appeared 103 times in all competitions, scoring 15 goals and assisting a further 21.
