Napoli icon Diego Maradona has admitted that Gonzalo Higuain’s seemingly imminent move to Juventus is causing him a lot of hurt.
Higuain underwent a secret medical ahead of finalising his move to the Bianconeri on Friday, and an official announcement confirming the transfer is expected as early as Monday.
“This Higuain affair is hurting me because he is going to a direct rival like Juventus,” Maradona wrote on his official Facebook page. “But we cannot blame the player either.
“A player has a responsibility to himself and it is those fat cats of business that are grinning the most in this case. Nobody thinks of the fan.
“I’m tired of saying that today it seems to be more important to be a good businessman than a good president. This did not happen in my time. Too bad that FIFA continues to sleep.”
Higuain, who broke Serie A records last season by netting 36 times in 35 appearances, has been linked with joining the Turin side for a number of weeks now, although it had appeared that any move was off last week.
Both Aurelio De Laurentiis and Giuseppe Marotta stated that the Argentine would not be moving to the Juventus Stadium, nonetheless, within days, the player had completed his medical.
