Vicenzo Montella FiorentinaNew AC Milan coach Vincenzo Montella is determined that they should play in European competition again soon ahead of his first season.

The Rossoneri have not appeared in the Europa League nor the Champions League for three seasons in a row, a record that Montella sees as unsatisfactory and has to change immediately.

“It is unacceptable that Milan have not been in European competition for three years,” the 42-year-old told the press.

“This is our goal, it is a target to put down and I will do my best to achieve it.

“We have to get back into Europe through the model requested by the club.

“Our minimum target is the Europa League.”

Montella takes over from Cristian Brocchi and Sinisa Mihajlovic on the Milan bench and will need to improve on the side’s seventh place finish in Serie A last season to impress.
