hamsik napoli sampdoriaNapoli could face losing their captain Marek Hamsik this summer, should they refuse to offer the Slovak an improvement on his current contract at the Stadio San Paolo.

Hamsik has plied his trade with the Partenopei since joining the club from Brescia for just €5.5 million back in 2007, and has proven to be an indispensable member of the squad.

“Marek always says that Napoli are the club he loves and where he wants to end his career,” La Gazzetta dello Sport report the player’s father as saying. “It is not certain yet whether or not this will happen.

“We expect a better contract. If the club are willing to evaluate Marek as he deserves, then he will stay in Naples, otherwise we will have to consider other offers.”

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are thought to be interested in the midfielder, whose current deal is set to run until 2018, and could look to take advantage of the player’s current frustration with his contract situation.

Hamsik has played 402 times for the Partenopei, scoring 98 goals and assisting a further 93 in this time.
