The expected transfer o
f Inter defender Davide Santon to fellow Serie A side Napoli is now off after he failed his medical.
That was all that was left in the switch for the 25-year-old, who was set to sign a five-year contract for €5 million.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis told Radio Kiss Kiss, however, that the former Newcastle United man will not be joining the Partenopei after all following a failed medical, leading to De Laurentiis calling off the transfer.
Santon will likely return to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza to prepare for next season, however he would hope another possible switch comes along as he only appeared 13 times in all competitions for the Nerazzurri last season.
Apart from a four-year stint in Newcastle, Santon has spent his whole career in Italy, and all of it with Inter except a loan to Cesena in 2011.
