Silvan Widmer udineseNapoli are preparing to step up their efforts to agree a deal with Udinese for their Swiss international Silvan Widmer.

The 23-year-old defender made 27 appearances for the Zebrette last season, assisting two goals, and his impressive performances have attracted interest from Maurizio Sarri and the rest of the Partenopei management.

As reported by GazzaMercato, Napoli are preparing to submit an offer for Widmer but face competition from English Premier League giants Liverpool for the right-back’s signature.

Napoli have contacted Udinese regarding a possible contract to bring Widmer’s services to the Stadio San Paolo and club president Aurelio De Laurentiis is keen on snapping him up.

Primarily a right-back, the versatile Swiss can also play on the right of midfield, and has made five appearances for his national side.

Widmer joined Udinese from hometown club Aarau in 2013 for a fee in the region of €750,000, having previously appeared in the youth academies of fellow Swiss club Baden.
