Roma have re-signed Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny on a season-long loan deal after his good performances last year.

The 26-year-old played 42 games in all competitions for the Giallorossi last year, keeping nine clean sheets overall.

Roma’s website announced the signing of Szczesny until June 30 2017, before the player spoke to Roma TV upon his arrival stating his joy at returning to the Italian capital.

“I am very happy that after a good season I had the chance to come back and I’m glad that the coach wanted me,” he said.

“I hope that we will improve on what we built last year.”

Szczesny is expected to return as the number one choice for boss Luciano Spalletti and could play the Giallorossi’s first competitive game of the 2016/17 season, which will be their Champions League play-off against an as yet unknown side.
