thomas-vermaelen-belgium-euro-2016Roma could complete the signing of Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen before the season’s beginning, with the player having agreed terms with the Giallorossi.

The player’s fee is looking to be the only stumbling point of the negotiations, with the Serie A side offering €4 million less than Barca are hoping to receive.

According to Il Messaggero, Vermaelen has agreed to join Roma on a four-year deal that would see him earn €3m per season.

However, Roma’s sporting director Walter Sabatini is currently offering €2m for an initial loan, with €8m to follow at the end of the season in order to make the deal permanent, while the Catalan giants are looking to receive €14m in total.

Since moving to the Camp Nou from Arsenal in 2014, the injury-plagued Belgian has played just 21 times for the Blaugrana.
