Inter coach Frank De Boer has announced his intention to keep Argentine striker Mauro Icardi amid speculation he will soon leave Milan.

De Boer replaced Roberto Mancini on the Nerazzurri bench recently and one of his first announcements was his determination to keep current club captain Icardi at the Stadio Meazza, and he seems confident that the Italians will achieve it.

“Icardi is a very important player for us,” he told Mediaset Premium.

“He is the player who has scored the most goals for us over the past two seasons and I don’t want to lose him.

“I also told the company and [Piero] Ausilio that I want Icardi to remain.

“We have to convince him as a staff and as a team, he is in the right place because here he can become even stronger.

“I’m sure we’ll be able to keep him, I look forward to working with him.”
