AC Milan, despite the player’s interest to leave the club.

Milan coach Vincenzo Montella knows the player’s defensive and playmaking abilities from his time at Fiorentina and considers him an ideal candidate for the role of regista in Milan’s formation.

According to La Nazione, the Rossoneri already have a deal on the table with the midfielder worth €2 million a year, but face difficulties to close negotiations with Fiorentina.

The Croatian international has two more years remaining in his contract with La Viola but has made it clear he does not intend to renew the contract as dissatisfaction arises between the parties.

The 27-year-old midfielder joined Fiorentina from Hamburg in summer 2014 for €5m and has become an important figure in their midfield appearing in 67 matches.
