manciniInter CEO Michael Bolingbroke insisted that the time was right for Roberto Mancini to leave and that both parties were at peace with the decision.

The Italian left after weeks of speculation and was replaced by Frank De Boer on the Nerazzurri’s bench.

“We took Roberto on 22 months ago because he was the right man at the time,” said Bolingbroke to reporters.

“He achieved some excellent results but then we came to a point when we felt a change was necessary.

“We reached a harmonious settlement with him and that was the most important thing for the club’s structure.”

The club’s director then looked forward to the future with De Boer at the helm for the Nerazzurri.

“We are curious to see his attacking and aggressive football,” added Bolingbroke.

“He has experience as a player on an international stage who won every trophy going.

“We want to win in every competition we compete but the priority is to play regularly in the Champions League again, starting from next season hopefully.”
