Sassuolo have identified Fabio Quagliarella as an ideal reinforcement for their attacking if they qualify for the Europa League group stages.

The Neroverdi are in search for an experienced striker and were also linked with AC Milan forward Alessandro Matri and Atalanta man Mauricio Pinilla earlier this summer.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Sassuolo are prepared to offer a tempting deal to Quagliarella but might encounter difficulties in negotiations with current club Sampdoria, who are not ready to part ways with the player they signed only recently.

The Italian international moved from Torino to Sampdoria in January 2016, initially on loan before making his transfer permanent in June after the Blucerchiati paid €2.7 million for his release.

The 33-year-old striker has played for various teams in Italy, including Torino, Juventus, Napoli, Udinese and Ascoli, scoring more than 100 goals overall.
