Italy striker Ciro Immobile has praised teammate Marco Verratti, claiming he can solve the Azzurri’s problems on the pitch.
Immobile scored one of three goals when Italy defeated Israel 3-1 on Monday night in their first 2018 World Cup qualifier, and Verratti started the match in the centre of the park.
“I know him very well, he had a great game,” Immobile told Sky Italia.
“In difficult moments, I can pass the ball to him and then he will solve a lot of problems.”
The next competitive match for the Italian national side is on October 6, when they face Spain in another World Cup qualifier in a tricky group.
“Now we wait until October to face Spain, it will be tough but we hope to be in a better shape by then,” Immobile said.
Spain had their first qualifier themselves on Monday night, demolishing Liechtenstein 8-0.
