AC Milan lodge enquiry as Sporting exodus continues

AC Milan have joined a host of clubs interested in signing Gelson Martins after the winger terminated his contract with Sporting Lisbon.

The 23 year-old is one of a host of Sporting players to quit the club after the squad was attacked by fans following their failure to secure Champions League football.

With a growing urgency to find low cost solutions on the transfer market Milan have identified Martins as an ideal addition to the squad according to Corriere dello Sport.

Despite appearing content at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, the future of Suso if far from certain, with a number of teams including former club Liverpool interested.

Martins would be able to slot into the starting line-up should the Spaniard depart but much will depend on the UEFA verdict regarding Milan’s participation in the Europa League.

Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli and coach Gennaro Gattuso will be in Russia to scout Martins, as well as former Sampdoria man and Roma target Bruno Fernandes.
