Serie B club Grosseto have immediately sacked four individual players who were involved in a car accident over the weekend, as the driver had been under the influence of alcohol.

The vehicle crashed on Saturday morning at 5:30 and involved Grosseto players Yaw Asante, Marco Crimi, Davis Curiale and Giovanni Formiconi.

Police arriving at the scene obtained the licence of the driver as he had failed an alcohol breath test.

Grosseto have immediately considered these players who were involved in the accident as surplus to the club.

The president of Grosseto Piero Camilli has angrily slammed them by saying ” These people call themselves ‘professionals’ only when they have to withdraw their wages.”
