Cagliari and Siena played out a 0-0 draw at the Stadio Franchi in Serie A on Sunday afternoon which has all but assured the Sardinians of safety this season.

The away side made the early running with Thiago Ribero going close with a header, before Albin Ekdal also headed just over the bar.

However, the Robur slowly came into the match as Alessio Sestu first hit the ball wide, then forced a good save from Michael Agazzi.

Gianluca Pegolo was the hero moments later as Victor Ibarbo raced through on goal, but the keeper’s quick thinking saw him get off his line and close down the shot.

Radja Nainggolan saw an effort go wide of the post, before, at the other end Innocent Emeghara almost touched a cross into the net, but it was too far in front of him.

In the second period, Emeghara again went close but his mishit shot was easily saved by Agazzi.

As the half wore on both sides struggled to create any meaningful chances, though towards the end Mauricio Pinilla’s low cross into the box was just too far in front of Nene.
