Viareggio Cup 2011 – Day Five Round Up: Juventus Scrape Through Thanks To Bianconi Hat-Trick And Dukla Prague Leave It Late

Juventus managed to scrape through after a Niko Bianconi hat-trick inspired them to a 5-1 over New York, and with Varese trouncing Bruges 5-0 it means the defending champions go through on goal difference. It means they will join Varese in the next round.

In Group 2, Red Star Belgrade’s victory over Cesena ensured they went through ahead of their opponents and behind Atalanta, who themselves recorded a massive win over Sambenedettese with Alessandro De Leidi grabbing two goals.

Inter made it three wins from three as they beat Serie D’s side 2-1 but both teams advance. Meanwhile the late winner from Petr Podkul meant Dukla Prague qualify for the next round at the expense of opponents Vicenza.
