Francesco Guidolin’s Udinese side has transcended national borders as the most prestigious French sports newspaper L’Equipe’s website dedicated some time to Italian football, for the second time this season, exalting Udinese and their game.

As reported on Udinese.it: “If they keep playing this way, Udinese, who defeated Cagliari 4-0  will enter the Champion Leagues. Guidolin’s team, currently ranking fourth, are walking on water,” the French publication wrote.

It wasn’t long before there was a retort: “It’s a magic, extraordinary period, and I don’t think it’ll be possible to re-live it in the future. We’ve found a balance that allows us to conceding little while  scoring a lot” the Italian coach declared to L’Equipe.

Out of the last six away matches (5 wins and one draw) the Friulian team has scored 24 goals and hasn’t lost for the last 12 matches: “We’re playing away matches just as the home ones, if we score so much it is because we’ve got first-rate players such as Di Natale and Sanchez.

“Qualification for Europe would be a reward for the hard work of a serious, competent Club and of its recruiters of young talents. I found the ideal environment to live and work in” said Guidolin, who still has another year left of his deal with Udinese.

After the magnificent win over Cagliari the Italian media have dubbed Udinese as the “Small Barcelona,” a title the richly deserve thanks to some breathtaking displays so far this season.
