Lazio coach Edy Reja felt that a penalty should have been awarded for his side after Giorgio Chiellini appeared to trip Sergio Floccari during the second half.

The referee waved play on and later in the half the Biancocelesti went down to ten-men before Simone Pepe grabbed a winner for the Bianconeri.

“I don’t know what to say, but unfortunately it’s not the first time this has happened to us,” a bitter Reja commented.

“Apparently recriminating gets you nowhere. It was a clear penalty on Floccari and I don’t know what it could’ve done for the game, but seeing incidents in other matches there were spot-kicks awarded for a lot less.

“I’m not saying it because it is my player. I am just being honest, you can see the footage quite clearly.”

“Juve leave you a few gaps on the flanks while they are very strong in the middle of the park. We put them under pressure with Stephan Lichtsteiner, Javier Garrido and also Mauro Zarate’s movement, but were unlucky.

“Unfortunately this is how things are going for us at the moment. Away to Inter last week Giuseppe Biava slipped for the Samuel Eto’o goal, while tonight Pepe’s shot was going straight at Nando Muslera before the deflection.”

The situation is tight in the race for fourth place as Lazio are only one-point ahead of Udinese and Roma, with Juventus a further four behind. As Udinese host Lazio on Sunday, next weekend could prove pivotal.

“It is certainly decisive on Sunday against Udinese, but all things considered we’re in good shape and after that game will have a better idea of what we can achieve.”
