The former Ballon d’Or winner and World Player of the Year visited a soccer school in the capital Lima which was opened by former Peru goalkeeper and Copa Sudamericana winner Oscar Ibanez.

Baggio distributed t-shirts and signed autographs for children, after visiting the Andean highlands of Cusco, made famous by the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu, the day before.

Baggio shone at the 1990 and 1994 World Cups and is the only Italian to have scored in three World Cups, but is perhaps best remembered for missing the penalty that handed Brazil the 1994 World Cup.

As a goodwill ambassador, he travels the globe to promote FAO’s vision of a world without hunger.
