Future Roma director Franco Baldini has blasted the club’s legendary skipper Francesco Totti, labelling him a lazy footballer.
Baldini is certain to return to Italy to take on a director role with the Giallorossi, after departing his current position as the assistant to Fabio Capello in the English national team.
The 50-year-old warned Totti that his laissez-faire attitude won’t get him very far in football, whilst hinting that the captain should just worry about what happens on the pitch, instead of inside the boardroom.
“Totti still has four or five years left in him, but only if he focuses on football and not on other matters,” Baldini explained to La Repubblica.
“But he has to free himself from his laziness and from those using his name without his knowledge. He has to stop his laissez-faire attitude, the lighter he is the further he will go with football.”
Totti has since responded to Baldini’s claims, insisting: “I better not respond or this could turn nasty.”
