Borriello vs ClujGenoa’s director of sport Stefano Capozucca has poured cold water on rumours that Marco Borriello will be returning to the club.

Recent reports have linked the striker with a move back to the Marassi where he enjoyed a successful 2007-08 campaign, netting 19 goals in 35 games.

“Borriello is certainly a great player and we were happy to have had him in our squad in the past,” Capozucca told the press.

“But he will not return to Genoa for two reasons. The first is we have other objectives for our strike force.

“The second reason is his wages are beyond our means.”

Capozucca also added that Inter target Rodrigo Palacio will be going nowhere.

“He is a fundamental player for us, so there are no doubts Palacio will wear the Genoa jersey this season as well.”
