Manchester City are sitting top of the English Premier League table with two wins from two matches, but are still desperate to acquire some of the world’s best players prior to the end of this summer’s transfer period.

With Samir Nasri’s proposed move from Arsenal to Etihad Stadium now in doubt, City have turned their attentions to Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder, a player who was expected to join rivals Manchester United.

According to the latest reports from the Daily Star Sunday however, the Dutch playmaker has rejected the English club’s approach, whilst the big spenders themselves are not willing to meet the player’s request of £250,000 per-week in wages.

Sneijder is still reportedly desperate to join United, and is willing to lower his demands in order to realise his Old Trafford dream in the next fortnight.
