Lowly Italian outfit Cesena are monitoring the current situation of a Liverpool defender, according to the latest reports from Italy.

The Bianconeri are desperate to bolster their defensive ranks this season, following the permanent loss of Yutu Nagatomo to Inter Milan earlier in the summer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Cesena have pinpointed Liverpool’s Emiliano Insua as the man who would perfectly fill the void left by the Japanese international.

Insua has failed to impose himself at the English club in recent years, and is expected to be offered the chance to move on loan to Cesena in the coming days.

The Argentine featured in the Reds reserves 2-0 friendly defeat to Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday.
