Roma were stunned at the Stadio Olimpico, in their first Serie A fixture under new coach Luis Enrique, as Cagliari spoiled the Roman party.

Daniele Conte, who has a habit of scoring against the Lupi, made the most of a poor headed clearance by Jose Angel, to smash an effort from close range past Maarten Stekelenburg on 68 minutes.

Trying to make amends for his earlier mistake, Jose Angel surged forward with promise just one minute later, however after losing possession of the ball, he opted to lash out at Davide Biondini, earning himself a straight red card.

Down a man and a goal, there was no way back for Roma. Cagliari grabbed a second goal deep into injury time through Moestafa El Kabir, whilst Daniele De Rossi pulled back a late consolation for the hosts with the final kick of the game.
