Former Juventus coach Marcello Lippi believes their new stadium will signal the beginning of a shift in fortunes as he compares the venue with Barcelona’s Camp Nou, and Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu.
Antonio Conte’s men will play their first Serie A game at the new venue on Sunday when they welcome Parma as the Italian league finally kicks off following the strike action which saw all week one games postponed.
Lippi coached the club at the old Stadio Delle Alpi which was razed to the ground and replaced with the new Juventus Arena.
And the former Italy boss has hailed Juventus’ new vision of taking their game to the next level by bringing their infratructure up to scratch with the competition around Europe.
“Stadiums like the Bernabeu or Camp Nou strike fear into opponents, but at the same time they can motivate you,” Lippi told Tuttosport.
“Juventus’ ground is also big enough to be considered a temple of football, but it does not risk being half empty.
“The stadium does help, but it is the team that counts more.”
Lippi will be present for the stadium’s inauguration on Thursday when Juventus play a friendly against Notts County.
