AC Milan lining up January move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder

AC Milan are the latest team to be interested in Tottenham’s Sandro. The midfielder was an integral part of Harry Redknapp’s team last season, but since suffering an injury and with the introduction of Scott Parker, he may have to look for first team football elsewhere.

The Rossoneri have an aging midfield, with Gennaro Gettuso suffering a potentially career threatening eye problem, Mark van Bommel considering a return to Holland and Clarence Seedorf possibly retiring.

Therefore manager Massimiliano Allegri is looking to rebuild his team around the highly-rated Sandro, who impressed him with a man-of-the-match display against the Milan in last season’s Champions League.

This new-look midfield would also include two other Brazilians; Ganso of Santos and Sao Paulo’s Casimiro. The Italian club are looking to spend around £40m on the trio; with £25m on both Ganso and Casimiro, with a further £15m on Sandro.

Tottenham paid £14m for the 22-year-old, so given that he is on a long contract they may be unwilling to let him go if Redknapp wants to keep him in the squad.

Manchester United have also been linked with Sandro in the past, but given Alex Ferguson’s midfield options it is unlikely he would be a first team regular.

In reality if Milan are serious about signing this player they may need their CEO, Adriano Galliani, to sanction a much larger bid, but whether he will want to go much higher is another matter.
