AC Milan’s run of five consecutive wins came to a halt last night at Fiorentina, as the Rossoneri were held to a 0-0 draw in Florence. Coach Massimiliano Allegri analysed the match following the final whistle.

“The team gave a good performance,” he said to Repubblica.it, “perhaps we didn’t attack their area enough in the first half. We had a good goal that was disallowed, and there were two dubious episodes, but we have to accept it.

“It’s too bad after having played a match like this, where I thought we deserved the victory, even though Fiorentina created problems for us in the second half.”

On the upcoming match against Barcelona in the Champions League, the coach said: “On Wednesday it will be a completely different match, my only thoughts were about winning tonight. It’s too bad because we failed to take the three points which would have allowed us to get our sixth consecutive win.”

Allegri also talked about striker Alexandre Pato’s return on the pitch: “He is decisive, because whether he comes on or plays from the start, he has an important impact. Tonight he hit the post and created some other chances… He also won a penalty. He did well.”
