Last weekend Roma defender Simon Kjaer made his return on the pitch in the 2-1 victory against Lecce, following injury. The Danish player looked back on a satisfying performance by the Giallorossi.

“Things went very well,” he said in today’s press conference, as reported on CorrieredelloSport.it. “We won and for me it was nice to return on the pitch after having been out due to injury.

“It was a good victory, and we could have done better. We could have won 5-1 or 6-1.”

On the goal conceded against the minnows, Kjaer said: “It was very accidental, neither me nor [Gabriel] Heinze could have done something to avoid it.”

Currently the Giallorossi are in fifth place, and are awaited by a series of decisive games, which will likely decide what Luis Enrique’s team can realistically aim for this season.

“We have a series of four matches against very strong teams,” he continued, “like Udinese, Fiorentina, Juventus and Napoli. If we managed to get 7-9 points from these matches, we could be in a good position in the table, like an important club like Roma deserve to be in.”
