Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has indicated to forward Federico Macheda that he has no future at the club, according to the Italian’s agent.

The 20-year-old shot to fame for Manchester United at the end of the 2008/09 season when he scored a last minute winner against Aston Villa to push the Red Devils ahead of rivals Liverpool in the race for the title.

However, since then Macheda has made little impact at Old Trafford and was involved in the Manchester United side that slumped to a 2-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace recently.

He also flopped during a loan spell at Sampdoria last season, managing only 470 minutes over a six-month loan spell.

Macheda’s agent Giovanni Bia said: “I spoke to Sir Alex Ferguson and I believe he will go and play elsewhere. He needs to play and there is not a place for him at Manchester.”

Macheda has five appearances in all competitions for United this season.
