Juventus have announced the signing of Simone Padoin from Atalanta, in what looks to be their last major deal of the January transfer window.
The 27-year-old looks to be the Bianconeri’s second choice after they failed in a bid to bring Cagliari’s Radja Nainggolan to the Juventus Stadium, though the Old Lady’s director general denies this.
“He’s not a last choice for us,” Beppe Marotta told the press. “The idea came to us during our daily transfer talks.
“Nainggolan was a target, but we had an urgent need for a midfielder and we could not wait. Our signings have now come to an end.”
The former Italian Under-21 international will arrive in Turin for a fee of €4.5 million on a five year contract.
Padoin has made 19 appearances for Atalanta in Serie A this term without getting on the scoresheet once.
